| Malaga & Province |

| More than just the image of fiestas and tambourines.
Despite its fame for la feria, sun
and beach, the Province of Malaga
could be defined as the most
unknown of all Andalusian
autonomous provinces. Unknown
is the landscape with the protected
areas for their ecological value; the
wide offer in different sports, in
and outside the Mediterranean Sea;
and the gastronomic and pastry
tradition. Unknown is the most
historical and monumental side
which in the capital itself is exposed
to the visitor by a simple walk.
Even unknown are the different
museums, of which the
international tourist only knows the
just recently opened Picasso
Museum.
As you see, there is plenty to
discover in the 7 280 square
kilometres that make up this small
province in the southeast of
Andalusia. A restored and exultant
capital and 101 municipalities with
their strong, own identity. Though
nobody pretends that the endless
number of mountains, museums
and castles banishes completely
the leisure offer of Malaga. There
are also plenty of opportunities for
those who do not feel like admiring
stones with historical value. For
example the nightlife of Malaga, or
the abundant fun parks allocated
in the area, such as Selwo, Selwo
Marina, The Zoo of Fuengirola and
the water parks Aqualand, Parque
Acuatico de Mijas and Aquavelis.
Of course, the party goes on during
the famous Feria de Agosto. The
best known of all popular festivals
celebrated during the year in the
whole province that fills the streets
of Malaga with colour, music and people.
This Andalusian province is probably
not the most beautiful, nor the
largest, nor the most historical one.
But with no doubt the sum of all
its facets make Malaga the most
charismatic. As its badge states,
Malaga is "noble, hospitable..."
It is commonly said that it is
impossible to leave the town
without feeling a bit like a citizen
of Malaga. Not in vain many people
remain, some forever. |
